Welcome to Oaks Counseling Center. The decision to embark on the journey to addressing the issues you have been struggling with takes great courage and determination.

The Oaks Counseling Center is dedicated to working in partnership to discuss and address your issues and help you overcome barriers that have held you back in parts or even all of your life. Whether you are depressed, anxious, feelings overwhelmed due to a life stressor, dealing with grief and loss of a loved one or just want to gain personal growth through the process of therapy, I can work with you as a partner in this journey and help you achieve your highest potential.

I believe that in finding our authentic and genuine self we will acquire a general sense of well being regardless of the current circumstances. In addition, the journey to discovering our genuine self will lead to a more meaningful, purposeful life despite external stressors and environment. My approach to psychotherapy is to guide individuals to empower themselves and make choices that stem from the core of who they really are and through this process awaken the person that they are truly meant to be.

How we choose to think or feel about our life is a matter of perspective. It is the same with psychotherapy. The decision to begin therapy may initially be triggered by an event such as a change in mood or a change in our family dynamic. Usually therapy/counseling is sought by those who have tried other alternative ways to resolve their problem and have reached a dead end. To the disappointment of many however, psychotherapy does not always provide easy answers, but through a process of self-exploration psychotherapy helps the client to search for and find the answers themselves.

Through this process of therapy/counseling, clients will begin to strengthen their 'core self,' and develop a more effective ability to face and deal with the struggles and challenges they face today and in the future. The journey of psychotherapy is one of self-exploration, of looking and examining parts of ourselves that have either been too painful to explore or that we have been unaware of.

The clients whom I have personally had to honor of helping have demonstrated extraordinary courage and strength for their decision to better understand themselves. The pursuit of knowledge and understanding of our selves, of responsibility and accountability for our thoughts feelings and actions are never a result of weakness, but of great courage and the true testament of the human spirit.
